CAR TIPS.

Practical advice from JC's Auto Mech Services to help you spot problems early, protect your vehicle and stay safer on the road.

CARE NOW.
SAVE LATER.

Your vehicle lasts longer when small checks become routine. Use the guide below as a practical starting point, then follow the service schedule and specifications in your owner's manual.

If something feels, sounds or smells different, do not wait for it to become a breakdown. JC's can inspect the vehicle, find the cause and explain the repair clearly.

01

Service on Schedule

Follow the interval in your owner's manual. Regular servicing catches wear early and helps prevent expensive roadside failures.

02

Read the Warning Signs

A warning light, new vibration, fluid leak or unusual sound is your car asking for attention. Early diagnosis usually means a simpler repair.

03

Check Before You Drive

A quick look at tyres, lights, fluid levels and the ground under the vehicle can reveal a problem before a long trip.

JC's practical guide

CHECK IT. DON'T CHANCE IT.

01

Engine Oil

Check the level on level ground with the engine off. Use the correct grade and never ignore a sudden drop or an oil-pressure warning.

02

Coolant & Overheating

Check coolant only when the engine is cold. If the temperature rises or steam appears, stop safely and switch the engine off.

03

Tyre Pressure

Use the pressure specified for your vehicle, not the number moulded as the tyre's maximum. Check tyres when they are cold.

04

Tyre Tread & Wear

Uneven wear can point to alignment, suspension or pressure problems. Replace damaged, cracked or dangerously worn tyres.

05

Brakes

Squealing, grinding, pulling, vibration or a soft pedal needs prompt inspection. Brake performance should never be guessed at.

06

Battery

Slow cranking, dim lights and repeated jump-starts are warning signs. Keep terminals clean and have the charging system tested.

07

Jump Starting

Use the vehicle handbook's procedure and correct connection points. Reversed polarity can damage sensitive electronics.

08

Dashboard Lights

Red warnings generally demand immediate attention. Amber warnings require diagnosis soon—especially ABS, engine and charging alerts.

09

Air, Oil & Fuel Filters

Filters protect vital systems from dirt. Replace them at the correct interval to support performance, economy and engine life.

10

Spark Plugs & Ignition

Misfires, difficult starting, poor fuel economy and uneven idling can be linked to worn plugs, coils or ignition components.

11

Belts & Hoses

Cracks, fraying, swelling and leaks can become a breakdown without much warning. Have ageing components checked during services.

12

Wiper Blades

Replace blades that chatter, smear or leave lines. Clear vision in rain is a safety item, not a cosmetic detail.

13

Lights

Regularly test headlights, brake lights, indicators, reverse lights and number-plate lights. Replace failed bulbs promptly.

14

Clutch

Slipping under acceleration, a high bite point, judder or difficulty selecting gears can signal clutch or hydraulic wear.

15

Suspension & Shocks

Excessive bouncing, knocking, uneven tyre wear or poor stability deserves inspection. Suspension directly affects control and braking.

16

Steering & Wheel Alignment

A vehicle that pulls, wanders or has an off-centre steering wheel may need tyre, alignment or steering checks.

17

Air Conditioning

Weak cooling, odours or unusual compressor noises should be checked. Running the system periodically helps keep seals lubricated.

18

Fuel Economy

Correct tyre pressure, smooth driving, reduced excess weight and timely servicing all help. A sudden increase in consumption may indicate a fault.

19

Fluids

Brake, coolant, power-steering and transmission fluids each have a specific purpose. Use only the correct specification for your vehicle.

20

Leaks

Note the colour, location and smell of any fluid under the car, but avoid touching it. Persistent or fast leaks require professional attention.

21

Car Won't Start

Listen for clicks, slow cranking or normal cranking without ignition. Avoid repeated attempts that can flatten the battery or mask the cause.

22

Limp Mode

Reduced power is the vehicle protecting itself after detecting a fault. Drive only as safety and the handbook allow, then arrange diagnosis.

23

Cleaning & Protection

Wash road grime from paint and wheel areas, keep drain channels clear and clean spills inside before they stain or cause odours.

24

Before a Long Trip

Check tyres and spare, lights, fluids, wipers and emergency equipment. Book an inspection if the vehicle is due for service or showing symptoms.

STOP DRIVING
IF YOU NOTICE:

Oil-pressure warning stays on
Temperature gauge is in the red
Brakes feel weak or the pedal sinks
Steering suddenly becomes difficult
Heavy smoke, steam or a strong fuel smell
Severe vibration, grinding or knocking

NOT SURE WHAT YOUR CAR IS TELLING YOU?

Let the workshop inspect it properly. We'll identify the fault, explain what matters and recommend the right next step.
